Thoughts on licking food
by anIdlemind
The other day I was faced with a quandary.
In the fruit box delivered to work sat some gorgeously glossy cherries, nestled amongst the far more boring fruit (you know who you are).
I love cherries. As it turned out, so did most of the people on the team.
Which got me thinking: if you lick every tasty piece of food you like the look of, does it make it automatically yours?
Or, does it put you at risk of seeming borderline insane (as my colleague suggested)?
I feel it’s a risk worth taking.

I don’t consider a licking to be the equivalent of putting your country’s flag on something. Best just to eat it fast rather than licking them to claim them. Licking it might not stop people from eating it, just makes it unhygienic. I love cherries too but they’re a bit pricey when I go to buy them so I settle for strawberries instead.
Absolutely agree re: price. Hence when they turn up at work I try to claim them all as my own…
